i'd like to get some input on the newer style gear reduction starters for a 70 Cuda. Are they better? Easyer to get in and out with headers? Mine is making the most awful squeling  noises you ever heard.  Plan on pulling it and preforming surgery on it today.

Newer mini starters are definitely an upgrade.
Small, lighter and more torque.
If you're not concerned about originality, there's no downside.

Yes, they're a good upgrade if the looks don't matter to you.

any recomendations to which one?  several out there and a big range in price.

I have learned that places like NAPA have two lines of part's. the cheep line, to be competitive with Autozone and such. than the better quality line. I have to remind them that I want the quality line. I went through that with the alternator I put in my niece's car.

I got mine at the local wrecking year..cheap and has been reliable as could be.  I believe it was off a newer Dakota???

I usd to grab 4-5 at a time at the wreckers , I would replace the contacts which costs about $5 & takes 10 mins
