I fire up NIKKI... I'm hearing the weird rattle/bell ringing sound. First I thought lose tranny inspection plate. Nope, so I take off the shaker. Louder, really a strange ringing noise. I feel my valve covers, definitely right side. Of course shes parked right next to the wall.   Pull the cover.... sho nuff, there it is. How the hell did this break? Looks like it was spot welded. I have no way to repair this (???) I'm thinking going w/o will make for lots of oil everywhere. Hmmmm ... Any ideas? Can I buy a single cover? Any new gaskets tech that I don't need to RTV? I laid it back in the cover so you get a general idea. Thankful nothing else looks damaged. Over 40 years in automotive, this is a new one to me.

It could be welded back on. But it's going to mess up the chrome finish. It would at least work till you get a new set.

What about epoxy?
They have stuff stronger than welds.

I would never trust epoxy on the internals, if any little piece breaks off and gets in your system who knows what could happen.

The only thing flat earthers fear, is sphere itself.

Well that does suck.
Maybe an old school welder that can spot it back on. Add a heat sink on too side with some heat transfer paste to minimize the burn circle.

Laser welding? I would try it. Will not burn the chrome finish.

Bad spot welds, only right way to fix it is weld it back on but that would burn the chrome. I`m not sure about laser welding?

Make a U shaped baffle that sits down in the hole for the meantime until you find a new cover.
I'm sure there would be a single somewhere at carlisle.

What are you willing to pay.
Send me your phone number via pm and if I see one I can call and maybe get you one.
Unless you can find one on the interweb.

However, I am very unfamiliar with anything Hemi as I have never even seen one on the street. Only at car shows and I can't touch anything at car shows so I'm very very unfamiliar with the parts.  Years, variance's, finish's, etc. etc.

Yes, there are epoxies out there stronger than the base metal. Yes, I would be reluctant to use it on an internal part. However, in this case, this is a piece way too big to get anywhere other than where it was found after it came apart this time. Failure would result in the same metallic sound that led to this discovery.

You could also weld in a smaller baffle in the breather tube at a level where the cap will hide the weld discoloration. Trim it so it isn't a complete seal and has some small paths for pressure to leak out. Less ideal than the large in cover baffle. but would still limit oil escaping.
