Hi Guys!
Who can help me to understand how the idle solenoid works on a 1971 340 motor with thermoquad carburator?
When does the idle "rod" (don't know the exact word) go out ?
When does it go in ?
How does it connect ?

In my case, when I start the car, the rod fully goes out.--
Good or not?

Have a nice day  :france:

It's working properly, you set your idle off the solenoid.  All it does is completely shut off all fuel to prevent "dieseling" when you shut off the car.

It's always great to have a correctly working one.

:unitedstates:  Your base idle is set with the solenoid unplugged or deenergized and normal idle is set with the solenoid energized. (2 settings)The purpose is to drop the idle down so the engine does not diesel when you shut the engine off. The solenoid doesn't have enough power to push the idle up until you push the throttle, then it will set your normal idle when working properly. You shut it off, it drops the idle down.
