Intake gaskets

70 383...just took the intake off and found just the valley pan--no gaskets. Over the years when I have removed intakes I have usually found the valley pan and a gasket, so that is the way I re-installed,  but not this time. What is the correct way--do I need a gasket or just the valley pan and some RTV? I know the ends need RTV, but what to use by the intake ports?

It's designed to seal the intake ports without any additional chemicals, RTV in the corners is required.

So front and back corners on the flat sections and nothing on the heads by the ports.....just the metal pan.....works for me....it's easier.

One thing I always do is carefully look at the old gasket you took off to see if it is crushed evenly. If it is, you should have no problems on reassembly.

you probably want to use the FelPro 1214 gasket with the heat crossover blocked off to keep intake heat down unoless you are driving in subfreezing temps a lot
this also helps with fuel boiling in the carb & hard starts

Thanks.....looked at that set and it comes with other gaskets for the ports besides the metal pan. I wonder why they are supplied if I don't need them.

Could be for extra tolerance , alum intakes may not fit as tight , I generally run a set of gaskets between the pan & head but not above the intake gasket between the pan & intake

Thanks.......didn't think about the heat block off......I need to look at the Mopar intake pan I bought to see if it is blocked off or not...if not I will order the Felpro.
