Hi Everyone,

I'm trying to find the correct part number for my 1970 Dodge Challenger RT/SE 440 with an Automatic transmission and A/C. The carb that is going on her is a Carter AVS 4741 as per the build sheet, the part number I see on the intake is 38140 and right now she has a 9636SA. Shouldn't the correct intake be 2951736 for the Carter AVS 4741 or am I wrong?.

Thanks
Mike

 My reference book has casting# 2951736 part# 2951737 as the only 4 bbl intake manifold for a 1970 440.

Should be some more numbers on your manifold, 36140__ but with the higher number looks like it came from a 72 or newer 440.

The carb you will be putting on is for a car with AC, as yours and also a California emissions car.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

I think the 2951737 was for 71 and newer and you're correct, there should be two more digits 14 maybe?. Nice car in your sig, it looks very familiar... Here is my Challenger RT/SE.

On many applications when it comes to part versus casting number, there is a difference of "1" in the two numbers, hence casting# 2951736 part# 2951737. It is the same part, just different identifiers.

Thank you for the compliment of the car, and yours shows very nicely too.  :perfect10:

that's a '72 intake #3614014 - just missing a couple digits

& here's the 1970 piece #2951736  :takealook:
