Hey guys,

I received my new Timken timing cover seal for the 71 Challenger 340.  My question is I thought all LA engines were the same.  Reason being is that the 340 I have is a 1969 but it's in my 71 Challenger.  I purchased the timing cover for the 71 Challenger but if you look the seal part # up on Summit it says it's not for a 69 only 70 and up.  I know I'm over thinking it I'm sure it will be fine just looking for your opinions.  Thanks

Not a small block guy but did they change where the timing marks are?

yes the timing marks were moved .
I don't recall a difference in the seal so if it fits tight it will be fine , I thought the cover had a lip to stop the seal in some years & you could drive it rigth through in other years .

Thanks for the confirmation I appreciate it.  Yup the seal is tight so I'll stick with it.  Thanks
