I'll be needing a stock appearing alternator for the T/A (date code not important) single pulley. Not sure where to look or which vendor?

Also I'll need a good fan/alt belt. Again not concerned with a OEM date coded belt. Just something that will provide good street service. I saw in older threads the Quanta belt seems ok, but stretches over time?

Thanks!

They all stretch over time, that is why serpentine belts have spring loaded tension-Er's on them.  :alan2cents:

If date codes aren't needed than pretty much any "round back" alternator will work.  There should be plenty of cores available.  As for the belt, just go to your local parts store.  Some of their belts have "ribs" that run perpendicular to the belt on the outside.  You don't want those because they don't look stock.  Just get one that is smooth on the outer surface.  If there is any lettering or stamped logos on the outer surface, you can remove that with lacquer thinner.

I don't know if your interested but I have an original 178 alternator I had professionally restored by Jim Ridge @ Dixie Restorations for sale. It would look period correct, Here's a link to the for sale ad.

Those Quanta repop belts look great and will work fine for easy driving. But if you turn any kind of real rpm they are coming off. I wouldn't recommend for any serious performance applications. Strictly for show and putting around.  :alan2cents:

Tuff Stuff builds new alternators built in the USA. I have started running those and they seem to be very good quality. They offer different options for color of the housing. Chrome, Black and a powdered coated natural look. That's the ones I run. While not for the concourse guys they are correct looking other than the pulley.
