Original AC

What is the odds of getting a stock AC up and running after 30 years? All parts there.
The setup inside with all the vacuum stuff seems complicated.
Is anyone running those systems nowadays?

I've rebuilt my stock RV-2 compressor.  It mostly involved cleaning out lots of goo and putting in new gaskets.   I'm hoping I'll be able to get it and all the other components to work with 134a refrigerant but it's probably the final system I will work on.

I just restored all the original parts on the 73 I'm working on. Classic Air can get you just about everything you need to restore it. With or without R12.

I got mine restored and reinstalled a couple years back on my Challenger, most of the grimy pieces were in a couple boxes I was given when I bought the car in '97.  I had some parts restored by classic auto air.  Several parts I got new.  After all is said and done, it looks and works great.  Of course, it's a convertible so I always have the top down when I drive it, but still nice to have the AC.

Huh, I did not know Classic Air sold OEM type A/C parts.  I looked at their website the other day and it was all "conversion" stuff.  So they have the original style components... lines and hoses especially?  Did not see that on the E-body parts page.

In my case, they rebuilt my compressor and restored my drier.  They can restore original driers by cutting them open, replacing the desiccant, and welding it back up and repainting.  I bought a new condenser and evaporator.  Fortunately my original lines were in good shape, my car is a big block and those lines are becoming unobtainium.  I'm told if you have original lines in bad shape, the hoses can be replaced using the original fittings.

I started the removal of the AC this week , have all but the bracket and condenser from under hood removed.

The car was originally an AC 318 , now 440 , are there component differences ?
Not sure if theses components are the original to this car.

Not gonna restore it right now, but I guess it's a good thing to save it for the future then.
But to get it working in this condition is probably out of the question.

The drier, is that the part in front of the radiator?
I have never worked with AC's before.

I do have a Vintage Air setup on the shelf for my Challenger project though.

The part in front of the rad is the condenser. The drier is the canister looking thing on the passenger side apron.

There is a person on e bay that manufactures,repairs the hose, fittings and compressor mufflers but he only makes them for small block set ups.

I was just looking at them on E bay the other day,and I have seen the same persons listing on e bay going back a  few years re manufacturing small block AC setups. I just did a search on E bay and now I cannot find it. This guy must do this intermittently.
