Hi, looking for a little help with this please.    I bought a new Complete rear axel.  My old  u joint did not fit the yolk.  So I went down to my driveline place and he installed the proper one.  I get back and still won't go in.   It's the flanges machined into the new yolk.   close, but no.

Do I take the clips off the caps?  Don't wanna grind off the flanges.

The new yolk looks cast not billet.   Not like my old one.

I'm confused as usual.   Uhg.

Could you take both parts to the driveline shop and see if they can tell what it's hanging up on?   :notsure:

Who ever you bought the axle from should be able to tell you what u-joint it is made to fit. 1350 or original mopar. I seem to remember you buying a ford 9" rear? Maybe you need some sort of conversion u-joint?

I will call moser Monday. Always a hassle.  Yea couldn't stomach the 9".  Now it's a fabricated 8.75 as planned.  I'll try and explain:    So when my old u joint didn't fit,I figured I needed that conversion one. Ordered it.    Took it to get installed and he said it wasn't.  And all I needed was blah blah blah. And put in what he thought I needed.   And now I am clueless.   Why is everything.   I mean everything a freaking hassle????????

Can't get the parts to him.   Sigh    It is so close to fitting.  Like 1/16".  Uhg.

Well there are two u-joints that could fit an 8 3/4". 7260 or a 7290. Google dimensions and see which one you need?

You will get it worked out.  I know you will.     Sometime the custom stuff takes a bit more to get it all together.

you do not need the clips on the caps , there are tabs on the yolk to retain the caps , makes sure all of the rollers are in place properly inside the cap , if 1 roller falls over it will prevent the cap going all the way on

I was just building a car with an entire new driveline , engine , headers starter ,  ,clutch , belhousing , rad & rad wall , clutch system , trans driveshaft & entire new diff , everything is supposed to bolt together but not a single piece did + to add to the confusion no instructions on almost everything so every part had to be tweaked or re-engineered to fit & work !!   :pullinghair:  :headbang:
It was a challenge all the way but we beat it , satisfying when get through it all ..  :tired:

With that yoke on the rear end you don't use the clips, those square bosses do the job of the clips ( keeps the cap from flying apart/off . If I remember right there are only 4 or so common u-joints used on american cars from 60's-80's Differences are cap diameters, and widths.
The yoke on the bottom picture requires the clips though.

Took the clips off.   Still does not fit  too wide. And the diameter is too small on the u joint.    So weird.  I just don't understand.   What yolk is this?  Why isn't it billet like my old one?    Since they sent a ford 9" with a  mopar 489 case(?)    Is it a ford yolk?   If I get the new yolk off will my old one work ?

not likely , the spline & diameters should be different between ford & 8 3/4

I would call Moser. They should know what they sold you. Or at least be able to tell you what you need to make it all come together.
