On a 1974 360 with AC and power Steering, Does the crank pulley only drive the power steering pump? Currently I have a Vintage air conditioner. The crank pulley turns the alternator and the compressor. The crank pulley drives the water pump and the power steering pump. The Vintage air diagrams show that only the PS is driven off the crank pulley. Since that is the way I purchased the engine, I wasn't sure if the pulleys were set up correctly.

I have a 74 Challenger with 360 La engine PS, and Vintage Air.

On it the crank pulley drives only the PS pump with the Outside belt.   The inside belt drives the Fan, Vintage Air compressor, and the Alternator.   Its a strange set up as on a "factory air" conditioner the belts are different and it used two belts to drive the compressor and alternator.

I worried about the single belt as:
First Vintage Air says use a 1/2 wide belt...but that is too big for the other pulleys and the size belt stock on the others is too small for the Vintage Air system.   I was able to find an "in between belt at Autozone that works on both.

Second, by using only 1 belt to drive Fan, Vintage Air and Alternator that is a lot of stress...with only a small percentage of the fan pulley engaged.    But, it does work.

When I bought the engine it didn't have a pulley for the water pump. I bought a water pump pulley on E-bay and after buying two pulleys, I thought I bought the right one. The first pulley, the diameter was too big, the second pulley didn't line-up with the water pump, alternator, and the AC compressor. I have two belts on the compressor and alternator, similar to the original AC set up. The problem with this set up, I had to notch the casting of the water pump because the AC belts were to close to the water pump. If I get the correct pulley, I think this would solve that problem. The pulley I have on it now, lines up with the water pump and the power steering pump. I looked on the Vintage Air website, they sell a replacement water pump pulley. I hope it fits.  Thanks for your response.

I would go to Bouchilon performance and check out their pulleys. He works with Vintage air and knows what fits.

I have a 340 with stock A/C and power steering in my 70 Challenger.   I ended up putting a shim behind the  water pump pulley to get it to line up correct the power steering pump and crank pulleys.   The shims were purchased as a set off of eBay.  I think I still have one tucked away in storage if you'd like to take a closer look at it.

I'm not near the car right now, but best I remember I have a triple pulley on the crank, and double pulleys on the a/c compressor and alternator.   There are 2 identical belts connecting the alternator pulley, a/c compressor and crank.   The water pump, power steering pump and crank are connected by a separate single belt.  This single belt is positioned closest to the block on the crank pulley.

Actually my water pump pulley needs to go the opposite direction. I need the pulley to go closer to the engine so it will line up with the compressor and alternator.  I think they changed the pulley alignment in 73 or 74.  Thanks.
