Hello guys  ;)

For this evening I have just one question. :)

If you will have some problems with your transmission 727 torquelite automatic (with a big block 440 CI).

Will you fix it or change this one by an other new one ? (The cost for a new one is not really expensive   ).

If you will prefer changing the old transmission, which trade and model do you choose ?

That's possible one day my cuda will be stroke (500 CI).

Thanks for your answers.  :bigthumb:

Is your transmission original to the car? if it is I would not get rid of it.   :alan2cents:

What JS29 said for sure,

But if originality is of no concern.....

I guess it depends on what you want. If it were me I would change it over to an 833 4 speed or if I had enough money, a 5 speed.
If you want to stay automatic, I think you have to stay with the 727. I don't think there are any other options for a BB Mopar. Could be wrong though.

I'm not sure because my car is a swap .... original 318 and now 440 CI.

I guess it comes from an american car crash (unfortunately..).

To be the clearest possible in my request. ;)
The 1st and 2nd speed pass too fast, for this reason, I don't take advantage to the whole power of the engine.
It seems inside the box, there is a membrane that can handle this problem.
On my 727, the front of the box was plugged with cold welding.
Why ? I do not know. I have bought the cuda like this, I have this soucy since the beginning (1 year).
My local mechanic (in France) asks me 2500 € to rebuild the transmission without parts (I will be in charge to the orders).
For a new one purchase in the united states, I have to pay about 1400 dollars + shipping + French taxes 20%.
That's why I have created this post because I'm not an expert.  :dunno:

What do you think about this link : https://www.jegs.com/i/TCI/890/111000P1/10002/-1?ymm=4294829708+4294828902+4294828898

Tranny definitely not original to the car....
2500 euro seems expensive to me, including parts, but I have no idea how hard it is to get parts and torque flight expertise there.
Being a hobby, I would look into seeing how hard it would be to do the work myself before spending big $$ on repairs/replacement. :alan2cents:

 However your shifting issue seems like it could be an adjustment issue.
Are you familiar with the "kick-down" lever adjustment at the carburetor?

You have a lot of options once you re paying that much
Buying parts to do a good rebuilt 727 should be minimal cost . I am not sure opf current pricing but New filter , clutches & bands with a Trans Go shift kit should be around $600 so unless any planetaries or drums need replacing you would be fine .
Shifts are controlled by the valve body , line pressure & governor which can all be changed without rebuilding it If you know what you are doing but in 45 years I have only found 1 person that could it it properly !
you could install a 518 with an adapter which gives you OD basically a 727 with 1 more gear
As above you could go to a 4 spd , 4 spd OD or 5 speed manual

Thank you for the link  :bigthumb:

For the kick-down, one of my french friend this afternoon explained me the best way to adjust it correctly.
Now I'm sure the adjustment of mine isn't correct.
That's no really hard to adjust when we know how doing it.
He explained me the transmission on his car (cuda 440 too) is the same like my cuda and the working too.
For the whole 727 transmission auto, the transit time between the first and second speed is really short (maybe 5 meters). The same thing like mine.

You may want to consider ditching the trans kickdown linkage for a Lokar set up. Easy to install and adjust - https://www.summitracing.com/parts/lok-kd-2727u/overview/

:clueless: I didn't know this stuff

With pictures it will be better.  ;)

This is my problem.

I guess the right way is to change the whole transmission but by which trade and model ? TCI (Not really a good press  :-[), HUGUES PERF or others.

I prefer staying with an automatic transmission, it will be too expensive to pass in manual transmission.

I got a small block 727 from Cope Racing Transmission good for 500HP and it comes with a Transgo 2 auto shift valve body. I am very please with it. I do that instead of trying to rebuild yours assuming your mechanic is not a specialist in working with Chrysler transmission.

I think the price went up. I paid under $1700 last year. Core charge is another $200. Have no clue how much to ship to Europe.

Cable system for kickdown is easier than the factory linkage. Assuming you don't care about staying everything factory correct.
