I'm hoping at least some part of this drivetrain is original to the car! Number cast into the rear end is 227 dot 10, under that is 2070741 and under that is AAPW. Thanks

8.75 axle with a 741 case... Clean the drivers side axle tube & look for a stenciled three digit number & date code.... Typically near the U bolt location.....

Will do. Thanks!

Scrubbed and cleaned but could not find any numbers, especially by the u-bolt.

Then it's gonna be hard to tell if it's original....   Even with the numbers it would be hard to say with any certainty...

If you care to look further the part number & date code are often on the front or top of the axle tube, usually yellow paint & if you can't read it but see some yellow residue try spraying the area with WD40 it with sometimes help make the writing show up..
