So, I put on the new valve covers and fired her up. Only the drivers side baffle is getting hit. I listened to both sides and sure enough, only one side is making contact. Weird thing is the baffles are exactly the same size and depth on both valve covers. Why would only one side hit?

There are variables , the valve tip might be a bit higher due to the seat being cut a bit deeper , the rocker arm or the adjuster could be physically different , even the rail the valve cover sits on is not a consistant height with cast heads so the cover could be slightly closer to the valve train

With one set of gaskets or two ? Either way you should be able to manipulate the baffle carefully with a hammer  :alan2cents:

Just one set of gaskets. I really thought it wouldn't touch. I did a test with a dab of white paint on the highest point of the rockers, and it didn't leave a mark on the inside of the valve cover. Thought I was good to go. Just to be safe, I think I'll order a pair of valve covers pacers, 3/8 inch. I don't trust myself to hammer that baffle the right way.
