Hi all,
I got a wrong air cleaner that I will probably use until I can get something else. The problem is it hits the Distributor, so it is really wrong, dispite it saying 340 on the tin. Anyways, I kinda like it and prefer it over the cheaper Summit ones. All I need to do is raise it a bit and it should be fine. I have a carb spacer I was thinking I could bolt up to it and was currious at how much clearance there would be with a stock hood. I have my hood off right now so it isn't easy to check.

Car is a 70 challenger with stock flat hood and and an Edelbrock carb on it. Any one run something like that with a 1 inch spacer?

Thanks
Tom

I don't know this measurement off the top of my head.  But I can offer an easy way to measure it.

Using a can of Play-doh, like a $0.50 can from Walmart, or your local bargain store, make a large ball with it and place it on the highest point of the air cleaner and close the hood.  Even press down on the hood from the outside right where that ball sits.  Slowly open the hood, and measure the squish.  If it sticks to any areas not to your disliking, powder it with baby powder.

Thanks, good idea. I didn't think if play doh. I would do that, but the roof is not on the car currently. I'll have to test it latter. My thought is there should be just enough clearance. I think I had it on at one point.
