Trouble

I seem to be leaking a little trans fluid from this plug.can someone tell me what it is and how easy is it to replace?

Looks like the sealing ring on the neutral safety switch. Swapping out switches isn't all that difficult, I'd jack up the driver's side only so that the fluid runs to the passenger side while servicing it.

I agree with Goody.  Get a mirror up there and I'll bet you'll find it coming from the switch and not that plug below it.  I don't know for sure where the fluid level is in relation to the switch, but it looks like you might need to drain the trans.  I'm sure someone else has been there and done that.

That's actually the reverse light switch. Common to leak. They make new ones with an o-ring that seems to seal better.

You don't have to drain the trans completely but you will lose approx 1/2 the fluid even with the rear wheels jacked up , it holds 4 qts total & a suction gun is the easiest way to fill it . I have seen the oil leak through the switch as well even if the seal is good to the trans
