Did you guys choose this intake specifically for hood clearance?

Not speciffically, but it has to be taken into account of course.
IMO, better than the edelbrock performer  I took off.

I took Neils advice  (  @Chryco Psycho  ) when I was buying mine. Best performance and height wise when I was building my engine.

The Holley is a design from the 70's and it's just as good (and actually much better) than any of the newer designs. Not sure if you can still buy a new one but they are easy to find used.

The Holley Street Dom is seriously one of the best intakes created , it sits low & flows like crazy you can still get the #300-14 new for the RB engine or B engine with raised port heads , the B engine for the 383/400 you have to find used .
I port the crap out of the intake , I raise the roof of the ports under the carb & make a soft curve int the ports , , I narrow the dividers between the runners & port match at the head as well , they make serious power !!

I can only find a used 300-10 ,would you happen to know the difference in them

RUNCHARGER

300-10 is the correct 383-400 Street Dominator. That is the only one Holley made for the B-engine.

383-400 ( b engine blocks ) with stock heads use a narrower intake than a 440 (RB  ) block  hence the 2 different part numbers.  :waving:

What heads are you using on your 451?

edlebrock rpm performer. I misunderstood chryco phycho's post,I assumed it would be the same part#, but when ordered you would have to specify RB or b block

Gotcha!  Eddy head would require the 300-10, here is one for reference https://www.ebay.com/itm/BIG-BLOCK-MOPAR-HOLLEY-STREET-DOMINATOR-300-10-INTAKE-MANIFOLD-B-361-383-400-/163923757296

On my 451 I'm using Mopar's Stage 6 heads , they are a raised port design and use the RB intake as Chryco mentioned.
