I'm looking for input about fit for the B engine header options.

Looking at 1 3/4" types, Doug's D451 or TTI 383440-134. How do these fit?
Or possibly going to 1 7/8" with the TTI 383-178 or something like that.

Any others I should be looking out for? I see plenty of headers made for B or RB engines. Do any of these work properly with the 383? I'm just trying to find something that just fits without mods. Car has power steering and power brakes, and is an automatic with console shifter. If any of that matters.

TTI in my experience is the best fitting header as well as good access to the spark plugs .
TTi makes a different header for B & RB engines unlike most others

Thanks. The TTI-178 looks like that set is specific to the 383. The other TTI 383440-134 looks like it is for both B and RB. Even the part numbers seem to say that.

Now I'm hoping someone can comment on the Doug's headers fit.

I ran a set of the Dougs and there was nothing wrong with them. I haven't used TTI wedge headers but I have installed multiple sets of TTI Hemi headers. The Hemi is a trickier fit and the TTI's fit beautifully,  if it was me I would use the TTI's.

I've got the Dougs D451 with ceramic coating on a 400" with a mini starter and Borgeson steering box.  They fit well and exit up close to the body.  It is tight near the box/coupler, playing with different header gasket thicknesses can help here.  I did not have to ding the tubes for the starter or steering box/linkage.  Not sure a standard starter would fit.

With any of those headers, do be sure your engine is in the correct left/right position (C/L crank to frame) and rearward down slope.  This will go a long way for addressing potential fitment issues down stream.

If you're hooking up to an existing exhaust system, one thing to note is that the Doug collectors exit parallel to engine block, whereas the TTI collectors exit towards the transmission.  Might need to make some custom "S" bends to connect them up.

Not sure about the other manufacturers.

Awesome! You guys have come through again!

I'm now leaning towards the TTI system all the way. Headers and their full exhaust system. That should all fit together. I know I am still a long way from needing this, but it is research time.

So, if I  got this right, I may need a mini starter?

The snow ball keeps rolling down the hill, and it's getting bigger and bigger.
