DIY header ceramic coating

Without going into detail about what a moron I am or how I managed to do it    , let's just simply say that I need to re-do the ceramic coating that came on my TTI 1-7/8" headers.  Does anybody know of a DIY ceramic coating that actually works and does not involve baking the headers to cure?      And before you suggest it, no I don't want to just paint them with VHT paint.  I want my ceramic coating back.  Naturally, I pulled this bone head stunt right before car show season kicks off!!  Is this something that a metal plating shop could do if there is no DIY solution? I considered just breaking down and buying new ones from TTI but WOW, has the price gone up!  Not at $1K a pair and I can't afford to pay the shipping to have TTI redo them.  Maybe a local shop??

I've not used their high-temp product but have several others and they've been great. Easy to apply and super durable.

Unless the coating is coming off.. I'd leave it. I bought the polished ceramic from TTI and they got a "bit" warm when I was messing with ignition timing.. they are not as shiny as delivered. But.. the coating is still intact.

If it's coming off... you best rattle can bet is likely the VHT stuff. Otherwise have them sent out and redone. really your best 2 options IMHO.

I don't think you'll find a true DIY ceramic coating that doesn't involve stripping the headers down, coating, and baking.  Assuming it's scratched or similar and not peeling off, all you can do is spot clean and paint the bare area with a high temp paint that closely matches the rest of the coating.

Thanks guys!  I'll check out the Cerakote.  It that doesn't seem feasible, then I'll take them to a metal plating shop and have them redone!

I wouldn't trust any DIY header coating.  Everything needs to be baked even Cerakote....just at a slight lower temp than Powder coat.  Cerakote is also thinner.  I looked into it for some wheels.  But had no luck anyone local willing to do it.  Most shops that do it apply it to guns and such.

I would talk to your local powder coaters so they can strip them and see what high temp coatings they have.

I milled out my own AR 15 receiver from a raw aluminum blank.  When finished I used cerakote.   As easy as painting automotive paint.  Mix the hardener in and spray.  Let it dry to the touch then a quick bake in the oven.  No lingering nasty fumes.   (I wouldn't toss a pizza in right away but leaving door open until oven cools was fine)

Challenge will be getting headers to fit the oven.   If just doing a patch maybe a heat gun for local heating will suffice.
