What finish is the driver side muffler hanger bracket

Mrbill426

Might be wrong but I think all the metal brackets and clamps are a zinc (shiny) plated.

I like to believe it was bare metal or some sort of black phosphate, can anybody zoom in on the underside picture of Dave Waldon's white Challenger...reproduction are shiny silver cad, which I don't think is right :alan2cents:

Well now that I re-read the OP I am confused if the question is about a "bolt" or the actual hangers
I am sure you are right about bolts being "black".

Bullitt-

Think he's asking about some part of the "bolt on" exhaust hanger.
Mine were all rust... may have been galvanized originally  :dunno:

I've only ever come across RUST as well, that's why I was thinking whatever it was, it didn't last long  :dunno:

My guess would be they were supplied in bulk and installed from under the car as determined by build sheet (dual exhaust car), doubt they were painted or plated. Probably another (of many) item left as bare steel. Remember they were only supposed to last 3-4-5 years. No proof, just my .02

Originals where just bare steel. No coatings on them.
