2017 Ram 1500 Night Edition

Ok so my wife and I finished dinner one night then headed over to the local Dodge dealership to look at trucks as I will need one to haul the AAR for those long hauls to some shows. I haven't bought a truck since '93 and am still driving it so I'm a little out of touch with all things related.

I've decided on the Night Edition in Flame Red but can't decide if I should go with a 4x2 or a 4x4. Any thoughts?

the 4x4 is more versatile and will retain better value in the long run + appeal to a bigger audience if/when the time comes to sell it

Tom has a 2002 CTD short bed manual that we bought new and has given us 0 0 0 trouble.  Pulls like a champ, great mileage even towing, her name is Precious and she deserves that name.  (Long story)

He has been kicking the tires on something else too. IMHO, you cannot go wrong on resale with 4WD.  And that is one factor I always look at.

Beautiful truck!     I would go with the 4x4 if it was me.  Especially as long as you keep them in service.  Also good to have it and not need it then need it and not have it.  I'm been a few places towing a trailer where I had to put it in 4x4 just to get the trailer and truck going.  And they were not areas where you would think a truck will get stuck.  My vote is 4x4.

Yup 4X4 with CTD Cummins Turbo Diesel best truck on the road, obviously ou keep your trucks or the long haul these can last 600,000 miles easy with proper maintainence

ditto 4x4 for all the above reasons.

I'm much north of you and this winter I used it, oh, zero times, no snow. Last year like twice. Never regrets though for either of my 4x4s.

If you go 4x4 though, why bother with a Ram when you can have . . .

Do they still make a 4X2 ? All the RAMS I  see around are 4X4's  I just bought a 2017 as well.

I'm sure you can still buy a 2wd if you want to...but I agree with everyone else. I refuse to buy a anything but 4x4 just because it's great to have the versatility

I had a 2010 Ram 4X4 for seven years.....Always drove it in "2X4 mode" daily. In snow or even rain it had a hard time starting off from a light (heavy foot problem as well) so I would switch it to 4X4auto and the thing would grip and take off like a bat out of hell. For that reason, and a few times I was stuck in heavy snow....I will always buy a 4X4

Do they still make a 4X2 ? All the RAMS I  see around are 4X4's  I just bought a 2017 as well.

I've seen one online on the lot so it would have to be ordered.
