<Fixed it!> Miller welder died today. Help needed.

Anyone out there know the insides of these?
It was acting odd occasionally last week. Today it went all out.
It seems like it has lost power. The arc at start works fine but actual weld power is almost non existant. Turned off foot pedal and arc start to discount them. Also is similar to when there is no good ground.

All of the connections tight inside for power & negative , highly unlikely the actual generator has a problem

Will try and dive in tomorrow. It hasn't moved from current spot in 15 years. So...

Yes: First thing to do is check all connections. Hopefully something has just come loose.

Try contacting Miller, giving them the model and serial #'s and see if they have a trouble shooting department. Extended warranty?  :huh:

Lol I will assume warranty is out. Probably 20 years old.
All I checked was tight. Looks real clean inside. All garage home usage. No boards show signs of burning on them. I did find a bad toggle for the starter spark. This I will replace and then make some calls. Will stop at a local welding supply place also.
Hope I dont have to take it in somewhere.  Just sold me truck 2 months ago. Figures...

I had a similar problem to what your talking about, I had a flexible headed torch and the copper tube inside broke and was causing weird problems. A new torch fixed it right up

Positive update.
I replaced the toggle switch. It had a broken contact pusher inside.
Also sanded to clean contacts for start spark.
They are similar to ignition points only much larger.

Just some rod and heat big and small to test. Nothing pretty this time.

Agreed , I figured it was not the main power generator
