Cool old picture of unique car at my local drag strip

This car was called the "Headless Horseman" and was a favorite at my local dragstrip in the late 50's and early 60's.

It's a Mopar powered 32 Ford roadster.
The car was radically modified so the driver sat up front inside/under the hood and cowl where the engine should be and had a 354 Chrysler Hemi installed behind him.
He later bought Don Garlits' first rear engine car.

The owner/builder was a local guy who owned a print shop.
It must have looked pretty wild going down the dragstrip with no driver.
They look like young kids...what a fun time at the dragstrip back in the day.

@GrandpaKevin , the rear engine car , are you talking about the 1957 Olds?
The color photos are not of the original 1957 Olds.

I'm not sure about the Garlits car.

I was told it ran in the alcohol class back then.

I'll ask around.
