truly sorry to hear of your loss, especially this time of year. sounds like a good guy.
Growing older is mandatory...growing up is optional.

Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

I want to thank everyone for their comments, thought and prayers..........they are helping us get thru this. In addition to losing our son, we had to put his out side dog down Tuesday morning.  The vet said we did a good thing.....Heart.........Buried him yesterday morning.......  It has really been a week.......then today I had to travel 150 miles to tell his grandfather of 91 that his grandson had passed...........I think when you are that old........you understand the process more....but he took it well, wanted to know if it was anything he could do.!!  No of course, just take care of himself.  I am attaching a link to the local paper of the obit........In this pic he looks like Jack Nicholson.....but he was a good son........thanks to all again....David and Linda......

I want to sincerely thank all who responded to this post.  It means a lot to me and the wife.  We had the service yesterday and it was a sort of closure for the family.  He will never be out of our hearts.

He would have liked the service.......started with  Police  escort from the home, and one at every intersection until we got to the church. And they all joined in on the way.   Police Honor Guard at the front Display table where there were many pictures of him from baby to officer and a lot  in between.  The church was full and many friends came thru the line.  Don was ready to go and wanted the speakers to remind us that we all need to be ready...........  From the day he passed, we think that we will miss him so much, and we will ,  but as each day passes, we are one day closer to seeing him again..........he just went on before us......and the service ended with Amazing Grace played by a Bag Pipe player............  Again, thanks to all,......David and Linda.
