Hey everybody.

I did this thread a while back on another website and enjoyed hearing the stories.

Tell us items you now own, or owned that went past their typical life expectancy.
Anything that required moving parts that are prone to wear and tear.

if it's cars, tell us the original mileage the drive train component had and it's story.

I had an 89 Cummins 250 , 650,000 miles & I sold it running
But my friend had a 92 Cummins 350 it showed 285,000 km on it but when I talked to the original owner he had rolled the odometer so it had 1,285,000 km on it or approx 810,000 miles , he also sold it running so it may  be past 900,000 miles now  :Thud:

I have a Skilsaw Magnesium 77  worm drive saw that I have had for some 20 plus years.
I've replaced the plastic handles twice, trigger umpteen times, table replacement something like 5 times, cord I can't even count.
Run it so hot that it wouldn't turn the blade anymore just kind of mushed up.  Ran it out of oil.  Dropped it in water.
Used it today to do some styrofoam cutting on the I.C.F. home I'm building.

Good ole mags.  A carpenters best friend.

I have a snowblower that my mom purchased in 1977, an Eatons Viking 5 HP Briggs & Stratton which is made from real plate steel and not tin like the new ones which is still running strong, rebuilt the carb a couple of times, had to drill and pin the axles because the free wheeling bearings seized up on the drive wheels & replaced the electric starter.

Fires up with ease even in the coldest weather.  :woohoo:

1 more , I bought a Makita 906 die grinder back in 86
I have beaten this thing mercilessly since , ported numerous sets of heads , I mean 50 set or more , replaced switches , brushes , brgs , case , spindle , possibly the only original part left  is the armature but it still works great , I will likely expire before it does !!

Now that is impressive. And I thought my 285,000 mile 2004 Camry was impressive.

I have a Makita Reciprocating saw that's got to be close to 30 years old. I used the snot out of it and it still runs like a charm.
Milwaukee electric drill from early 90's. Still running like a charm.

My 2006 chevy van just had the front discs replaced for the first time. 200,000 miles. Rears still original.

275,000 miles on a 96 Ford Ranger.

5 speed and the diff could've kept going longer.

I sold it since it wouldn't pass Smog for a $1,000 dollars.
Suspected it had a burnt valve. I told the owner it needed work.

A couple weeks later, the owner said it finally ate it.
He gave up and sent it to the wreckers.

Those Pinto blocks were pretty good and I hate Fords except the Rangers.

ZEN357

2001 Dodge Caravan with the dodge 4 Cylinder in it.  Finally sold it to a junk dealer when it had 270,0000 miles on it.  It started and ran great, but the body was falling apart.

My 2001 Chevy work van has the equivalence of 398,000 miles on it. 134,000 on he clock, and 8800 extra hours on it, it's a Truckmounted carpet cleaning system that runs off the engine. It's just now starting to burn a tiny bit of oil, and it's been through three radiators, a new transmission, 4 sets of upper control arm bushings and numerous times where spark plug wires have melted together. The 350 has been rock solid.
