I am restoring an old lighted sign and need a couple fluorescent bulb brackets made.  I am trying to maintain the original look and I know whatever I make will look amateurish/homemade.  Online searches are negative for any u-clips with that much length/standoff.  I can provide a drawing and dimensions needed.  Looking for help or leads.

Thanks!

How "springy" does it need to be?  I think that is going to be the trick.  Anything that is made from dead soft steel is going to bow out and not come back when the bulb is installed.  You'll need some steel with some spring quality to it or a post forming heat treatment.  Now that I think of it, steel banding may be a potential material source depending on the dimensions.  Or McMaster-Carr should have something.  Any shop with brake or press brake should be able to form it.  I might be able to beat something into submission if you can't find anyone else.

I'm guessing it's supposed to be spring steel, but I might be able to get away with something less.  I've seen wire used to make sure the bulb stays in.  I have a small metal brake that fits in my vise.  I might be able to bend it right if I could find the right size stock.

3d Printer could work for you!  Viperman has made some parts using one . .  :bigthumb:
Drive it like you stole it . . . And they're CHASING you!

You could make that very easily with a basic bender...

That's pretty slick.  Different from the type I have.  Maybe I will take a crack at making something. Checking McMaster Carr to see if they have some metal strip stock.  Thanks

Spring clips in the right shape and size could work for you, may have to go an an industrial supply company.
