My cousin who lives in California promised his son a car if he got straight A's in school for the entire year.   Well the kid got straight A's for his entire sophmore year in HS...now Dad has to pay up.   He wants a Challenger.

So, my cousin has a budget of 20K or less, and i told him to buy an SXT with the V6, dont let the kid kill himself with a hemi.   Any recommendations or years to stay away from for reliability.   He is thinking 2015 or 2016.

Cuda Cody

Congratulations to the kid.  Nice job on getting A's!

I agree with the V6 SXT, they are peppy enough and seem priced okay.

I would stick with a 2015 or newer.  The pentastar v6 had issues early on that were resolved in the later models.

I rented a v-6 and it performed nice, BTW if you add all my years in school I would not had enough A's to add up for a year. Nice job!

I own a 2017 Charger with the V-6. Plenty of power for a new driver.

This is so in my powerhouse!

The 15 and 16 avoided the radio problems of the 17. This was for the 8.4" radio. I would also recommend the SXT+ if you can find one in your budget. If that isn't possible, the drivers convenience group is the option you should look for. HID headlights, blind spot detection on the side view mirrors. As a young driver, they have NO idea about blind spots.

Congrats on the kid getting straight A's. I had to settle for mostly A's.

MEK makes a good point about blind spot detection. These cars have a HUGE blind spot.

:iagree:  I had one of the first new Chargers that had a 3.5L engine.....it was peppy but it developed some really big problems that my local dealership wouldn't help with
