oil catch can

I have a 2021 Silverado with a 2.7L turbo engine. I have been reading about oil catch cans and all the gunk they keep from going back into the engine. I also read that with direct fuel injection there is a need to have an oil catch can setup when compared to a multi port fuel injection system. 

So, does anyone use an oil catch can on their daily driver? And are there any 2.7L Silverado owners out here using an oil catch can?  I got rid of my 2002 F150 with the 5.4L V8 and I don't miss that thing at all.

No opinion other than if they designed it well enough to last several hundred thousand miles; then it's probably good enough.   Crank cases are so much cleaner today than they were 30 years ago thanks to superior ring sealing capabilities, tighter tolerances from better machining equipment, and better engine tunes from computer controlled EFI with O2 sensor feedback loops...


That said.... A half ton truck with a 2.7l engine?! Is that a 4 cylinder? I know they're using smaller engines with boost to meet efficiency standards; but that's a teeny-tiny engine in a really big truck!  Haha. 

How's it drive?   Does the engine feel like it's constantly loaded to the max?

I have one on my 2016 Challenger. I empty it every 2 months. You would be surprised at what it catches. This time of year when it's getting colder, it catches a lot of water too. Keeping that garbage out of my engine is a win in my book.

Yes it is a 4 cylinder engine.
166 cubic inches making
310 horsepower @ 5,600 RPM
420 lb-ft of torque @ 1,500 RPM
It drives great and I average 23+ mpg. It has the feel and power of a V8 unfortunately it doesn't sound like one, but I can live with that. My Cuda fulfills the sound.

That's exactly my thoughts on installing one on my truck. And I might as well put one on my wife's XT5.

Yeah I have one in my daily and empty it out whenever I change the oil. Pretty nasty stuff in there
