Put down a deposit on a '70 Challenger vert!!!

Enjoy the hell out of her before you tear into it. I had a extremely clean and solid 67 Belvedere II Convertible.  I was going to clone it into a 67 GTX since I had enough parts to do it 2 times over but just resisted the urge and kept it all original 318-2 bl single exhaust. I can say without any hesitation that I had the most fun with this car than any of my Show Cars.
Whatever is going to make you happy !!!

I thought I might build a T/A 'vert out of it with a 440 six pack and a 4 spd.

Congrats, although for the love of all Mopar fans, please avoid any real temptation to clone into a T/A Vert!   It's been done before and it just never works. 

A 440 six pack and 4 speed (or 5 or 6 speed Magnum) would be miles ahead in appreciation and fun!

And of course my lawyer makes me say......... it's your car, do what you want to do!

Why do you say it never works?  Just curious.

We've debated the "clone" term on this site before, and for a T/A convertible I don't consider it a clone since they never made one.  I know that it's been done before, but how often do you see them?  Personally, I have never seen a T/A convertible at any shows or listed online.  I see R/T clones all the time - boring!  LOL  :haha: :haha:

For now, I'll just enjoy it as it is and next winter I'll start to work on it to do an engine swap etc.  I'll do the general clean up and fix the small things that it needs now to make it a nice driver for this season.

Nothing I would like better than a 1970 Challenger Vert in B5 with a White interior.  I got over numbers matching a long time ago.   Clones and especially resto-mods that improve the drivetrain and suspension are an excellent choice for enjoying the driving experience.   

Slapping on a T/A Hood and side exit exhaust just looks silly to me.

I didn't think of that one as a proper T/A since it was done half assed - wrong stripes, spoiler, etc.  If I was to judge by that example, I would agree it looks out of place.  But put that hood on an Fk5 car with the stripes and black top/interior and I think it would look great.  I like the side exhaust.  I put is on my old hemi orange convertible.

Congrats BTW.

Compared to most others that I had looked at or inquired about, this was the best deal for the $$.  He also came down in price from the last time we spoke about how much.  It does need a driver's side inner fender, some front suspension work, top has a seam split, a new driver's seat (has the lean), a good tune up and detailing of the interior.  Mostly stuff I can do in my garage.

Great looking Challenger, love the color.  As an owner of a convertible with a 318 auto, it makes a great cruiser!

Why a 440+6 ? Just because you have one, or just prefer them over a 340+6 ?
