Live about an hour east from San Francisco, I have never seen so many spiders. I'm guessing the only thing different this year is all the rain we had.  :notsure: Webs all over the place. Up on our roof of all places you can't help but notice webs all over the vents, attic fan covers and ridge vent just everywhere. All around the house too. I'm on a mission,  :vipermanhiding:  my wife was bitten by a black widow last year, she was down and out almost a week. More afraid for the kids, found a black widow in their play house slide.

My wife said this article nailed it

Widows are everywhere out here & have been for longer than I've been alive.... The one you've gotta be careful of is the Brown Recluse...... I was off work for six weeks after getting bitten by one of those....

Chryco Psycho

Brown recluse are bad for sure , never been bitten so far luckily

I've been bitten by a brown recluse, but didn't have near the reaction Wild did. Felt the venom flow through me though very, very warm and felt like itchy, prickly fiberglass on my skin as well. The bite spot took a long time to heal.
For black widows we never worried because someone we knew only had flu like symptoms from being bitten. My wife thought after her BW bite she would tough it out well 6 hours later we went to ER, she had a bad reaction.

Mine wasn't gonna heal by itself, my primary dr at the time I'd never been real impressed with & when I went to him he said Black widow bite, if you haven't gotten any worse than you are you'll be fine no worries..... The next day I went to the ER... Sitting in the waiting room with 40 other people with sniffles... Figured I'd be there all day... Nope, a dr walking through the waiting room saw my arm, grabbed me & took me straight to the back....  No anesthesia, just barely laid a scalpel to the wound & it burst open, green rotting flesh..... It stunk bad... He carved an area about the size of a 50 cent piece about 1/2" deep out of my arm...  There was allot more involved but I think you get the idea... Ugly....

Funny thing, I never worried much about spiders before that.. After that some nights I'd wake up in the middle of the night thinking I'd felt something crawling on me.... I'd totally strip the bed looking for spiders.... Than went on for a couple years...

hummmm maybe the snow is not so bad after all..... :o

Yup that's exactly what Ive read on BR and many times worse. Ya that's nasty stuff. You got lucky too, well not really! They like to hide in your clothes too FYI. I'm always turning things inside out.
I saw the one that bite me, I was very very lucky. Went to my doctor for a yearly check up he dialed in on the bite quick, but I told him it had been a couple of days. He gave me a prescription ointment for it and wanted me to be sure and use it.
Oh and waking up with that crawling feeling, ya have felt that too, how about waking up to a spider web across your face   :o. Tore the room up and sprayed with indoor spray. They need to learn to stay outside

Went out tonight only 4 black widows!

I was also bitten by a brown recluse.

Little bastard must've crawled in my sleeping bag.

That was so freakin painful.

Horse Penicillin sized pills and I began healing 36 hours later.

The company I work for is in St Paul.... I get there usually two-three times a year.... Mostly when it's snowing.... Though I have been water skiing on Minnetonka & skeet shooting maybe around Owatona....  Somewhere down there, Nice place....
