The Cuda got smoked.     :verymad:

James Taylor starred in it.

seen it dozens of times, but never noticed .....

they line up against an AAR 'cuda & beat a red  'cuda with body-side mouldings  :takealook: always wondered why they said the "'cuda was a hemi with a torqueflite"

Lots of cool stuff in that movie. Big Willie Robinson and the Daytona's etc....
Hot Rod's drag week gives you a similar "feel" to that movie. Repairs in parking lots , side of the road etc... lots of cool cars also!

Must have been a relay race!!

The AAR lost traction at the start, otherwise it could have been closer.

Saw this in the theater when it was first shown while stationed in Fla. picked up a tape to watch when I returned home to SoCal. Still have it on the shelf, have watched it several times over the years whenever the spirit moved me.     Thanks,   Al

IIRC, that's the Bob Falfa '55 Chev from "American Graffiti"...

303 Mopar

I heard the '55 was the same car used in American Graffiti.

what came first the chicken or the egg?

:wrenching: I agree Cuda lost traction; if it would have stuck and the 340 would have wound up it would be a different story.

I think he might be referring to a different race with a different car. At the 3:45 mark when he refers to the Plymouth with the Hemi and torque flight he also says "I think with sawed the guy off even though we lost $200"  To me by his expression and words it looks like they lost that race.

RUNCHARGER

Good tires, Rat motor and lightening would have made that 55 pretty quick. Like about 4 seconds faster than the GTO I imagine.

Chryco Psycho

While I clearly remember  the street racing scenes with the AAR & Daytona I had forgotten which movie there were in

RUNCHARGER

Those scenes were too short and the other scenes were too long!

it may have been due to editing of the original movie,  but the night street/drag racing scene with the Daytona & "the brotherhood of street racers" that matched the '55 Chevy against a 'cuda are the opening minutes of the movie filmed/located in CA where the brotherhood existed - they lost the $200 because the cops show up & everyone scatters without claiming their race winnings.

the youtube video is a few mixed-up minutes of racing taken throughout the movie which moves west to east across the USA  :stayinlane:
