Was Production Sequence Based on Destination?

Didn't know that regular Challenger production started in October 1969 at Hamtramck

I edited my above post - production started in August '69 & ran thru July '70
October was #1 in production quantity - followed by #2 November & #3 September (these 3 months produced 1/2 of all 1970 Challengers * 51%)

I'm thinking that my car was one of the "in Plant/In process cars during that month.
It was probably completed at or near the end of the A06 scheduled date.
I compared the some of the part's dates on my car
The rugs were dated Oct 11
The K frame dated is Oct 20th; 14 days after the sbd.; was the k frame dated at or near the installation date? This would have been the drive train install since the k frame is installed with it as a unit.
Finally, the differential had an assembly date stenciled in yellow of Oct 22, 1969
I am also lucky enough to have some original paperwork and communicated with the original owner; Delivery date on that paperwork was Nov 1969.
My conclusion: Looks like I was one of the scheduled builds in October and was completed over the next two weeks and delivered in November.[/i][/u]

I have the broadcast sheet for a FY1 340 Challenger convertible very close to your car with a A06-SPD, it was "In Plant/In Process" on 10/24.  The dates you found would indicate your car was in the same vicinity date-wise.

What was the typical build time for a Challenger once it was started?

tough to get a concrete answer - I've heard 4-shifts from start to finish for the no-issues build (can anyone confirm or contradict?)
unscheduled stoppage & overtime would change the timing also

October '69 at the Hamtramck, MI assembly plant:
Line #1 running 1 shift = 4 days
Line #2 running 2 shifts = 2 days

Yes, thank you. It changes my perception, a lot.  I envisioned these cars coming out of the factory sequentially, like removing a batch of cookies from the oven!

I would imagine it depended on having all the correct parts available to build certain cars, Maybe they didn't have enough FM3 paint to do 10 cars in that colour in a day for instance.
