Mopar held on to the 1950's styling way too long.
The Exner designs were great looking in 1955 but by 1962, some of the designs were very outdated.
Chrysler fired Exner when sales dropped in 62.  The 63 Plymouth was a big improvement over the 62.

I know, but I'd take the 62. It's a bit lighter and you just know it's all business. I kind of either like a 62 or the even more conformist 64's with the great hardtop roofline.

I know.
The 62's made great race cars. Those 413's with 13.5 compression hauled in the light body!
I also prefer the 64 Plymouth over the 63 because of that cool roof line.
My father bought a 63 new, and had it many years, till my brother talked him into a Chevy  :pokeeye:  A Citation - ugg

I'll probably buy a 64 Fury some day. I've built a few 64 Dodges. This is my first one I built. I paid $100 for it to start with so it was pretty rough.
