You know the trouble with aging is ??? When someone asks you about a 70s,80s, or even 90s group and you can pull out an 8 track, LP, cassette, or CD of an original printing and say " yeah, I bought that when it was new ! " I fall into that category with a whole wall of music....

I bought a" greatest hits" lynyrd skynyrd CD a few weeks back. I've played it to death in my work van. Funny they were just Mehhh to me back in the 80's when I was a teenager but I really like them now. Even stranger is I couldn't stand Johnny Cash much when he was alive but now I really appreciate his music. I must be " mellowing" with age? :notsure:
I'm thinking maybe it's most of the new music is total crap! With a few exceptions.....

In 1972 I was 12 years old. The very first record I owned was Simon & Garfunkel's Greatest hits.
The Boxer was incredible and is a true classic.
Then later, Elton John, Honky Chateau album came out. Rocket Man. Still an amazing song.
By 1973, Deep Purple Burn came out and I saw them on 11/14/74. My first concert.

I've been traveling a lot over the past month or so with my son to his baseball tournaments all over Colorado and have an affinity for playing classic country with windows down driving through the mountains. I guess it goes back to all those fishing trips I took with my dad in summers growing up. He had an 8-track player and only 6 tapes at a time so we listened the same songs over and over. The Highwaymen was one of his favorites. For anyone that is familiar with country music, there is a lot of talent on this stage.

I swear - I read your post and said to myself - Zagar and Evans. My dad put that on during our Saturday house cleaning extravaganzas when I was a kid. And I've got it on my iTunes now. Lol. Along with the Kingston Trio, Neil Diamond and the soundtrack from American Graffiti - they just aren't as scratchy as those old records. Lol.
For some reason he wouldn't let me play my Sabbath and Zeppelin...'I'm not listening to "that shit"' I think he used to say. He never got past Buddy Holly with rock music.

So very sad, I was at the 1st AC/DC concert in Winnipeg in 1978 and this was before Bon Scott died, they were backing up Aerosmith and they literally blew them away.
By the end of their set, Angus's knees were covered in blood from sliding around the stage, with his trademark shorts on.
When Aerosmith came on (apparently Steven Tyler had a throat infection) they sounded horrible and all of the fans started chanting "We want AC/DC, we want AC/DC".
Felt sorry for Aerosmith but AC/DC was just absolutely electric and they didn't even have the full set of amps and speakers working for them as most backup bands don't have.
http://www.ac-dc.net/archive/acdc_tour_history.php?date_id=1068
The ablve post says that Aerosmith was the back up, but they were NOT, I still have the Ticket Stub.
I saw BTO at the Keystone Palo Alto back in the late 80's.
Are the 80's music ignored?
It was a fun time.

We rocked to them to Carlisle together. Remember?
Topcat is correct as I am a large fan of RUSH! I think I have seen them in concert 16 times. My wife would always say, "Why are you going to see them AGAIN?" I would tell her, "you never know, they could be done at any time!" Now they are and a great run! Rush was a huge influence in my guitar playing, I can play more Rush songs than any other group. A lot of good music and memories . . . Usually you loved them or hated them. To each their own . . .
:D
Rush has been at the top of my Favorites since 1975 when 2112 was released

Peter Gabriel was incredibly imaginative and full of energy.

From 1969 by Blind Faith an English blues rock band, composed of Eric Clapton, Ginger Baker, Steve Winwood and Ric Grech.
Back in the '90s a local musician played this frequently at one of my favorite watering holes.

This is my favorite version so far, an acoustical version from the original band

Back in the mid 70's there was this shop owner of a small record store in my home town of Los Gatos.
@floorit426 (https://forum.e-bodies.org/mlist/floorit426_1567) It was called Galactic Zoo.
His name was Greg Stone. I was well acquainted with him.

The band Head East was named after the Lead singer in a Van saw the sun rise while on Acid.
He saw the Sun talk with arms and a face.
Thus the name, Head East was born. (heard this today from the disk jockey)
Irregardless; this is a freaking killer song worth warming the speakers up on high. :bravo:
are you surprised Baxter Forrest Twilight would take acid? :crazytalk:
from Wikipedia:
QuoteOriginally known as the TimeAtions, the band adopted the name Head East on August 6, 1969 at the suggestion of the band's roadie, Baxter Forrest Twilight. In a 2011 interview, founding member Steve Huston claimed that soon after sunrise one morning in 1969, Baxter Twilight woke the band members in their communal home/practice facility. Having been up all night sitting in the front yard consuming acid, the roadie said that when the sun rose, it turned into a giant talking head and told him the band's new name should be "Head East". After thinking on it briefly, the band liked the unusual nature of it and has kept the name.[1] However, other members of the band dispute Huston's claim about the naming.

Best entertainment I've had in many years was a Travis Tritt Show .. I believe the man can sing anything...
:rebelflag" So here is my all time favorite song to unwind..
It's the only song I've ever bothered to upload on my phone. I play this to the uninitiated & ask them to ID the type of music ..... :))

How do I embed the video on the thread?
Anyway this link is the latest suicidal tendencies. The whole album is really good! No video's though.
Ok I saw the thread about this.
The latest body count is awesome!
However his last album was even better!
One of my favorites! Action bronson has some really good music. Works in jazz and older tunes really well with his rapping style.
Some indie rock. I've really been diggin this chick. Just love her voice!
Danny Carey at his best :bigthumb:
1984.
Grace Under Pressure.
I was there...watching them.

Tony Tucker, Snowy White and the Nimmo Bros for great electric blues, Eric Steckel is also pretty good. Sorry, no You Tube links. Good tunes to block sand to!

THE CHARLIE DANIELS BAND - In America
nobody rocks a cheetah/leopard print two-piece like Aldo Nova  anyone wearing theirs to Carlisle?
I popped this in my 01 Durango this morning b4 heading to work - it picked up with the beginning of Ziggy Stardust.
One of my oldest cassettes and still sounds good :)
Bear with me on the beginning!
Trust me!
One of my many mix tapes that I still play in my 74 'cuda. Installed an in-dash Kenwood AM/FM cassette receiver and it still works great. The Kenwood was installed in 1994 without any cutting or modifications.
Good Night and have good dreams.
Canadian Band.
This song is in regards to Country Music being blasted higher than what Federal guidelines allowed out of Mexico near the border. They nick named it X music.
Border radio's greatest asset was the sheer reach of its signal. Free from U.S. regulation, signals ranged from 50,000 to 500,000 watts. Listeners could often hear radio signals coming through barb wire fences, bed springs and dental work. The signal was so powerful that the "X" stations would often overpower stations broadcasting from American soil. Signals from border radio stations could sometimes be heard as far away as Russia.

This is impressive... :dunno:

I like Commander Cody's ( cover) version the best. Here's the original song by Charlie Ryan .

Here's the Hot Rod Lincoln that Charlie built.
Wow! I feel like a guy who's brought a knife to a gun fight, since I don't have a video link, but if you've got the time, check out a guy named Michele Montalban and his version of The Sultans of Swing, done on the street in London England- just amazing!
And no, I don't think he's Ricardo's son, either.
Talking Heads was a great Band.
That Rival Sons song, wow! Love it.
Saw them live at a small stage on Sweden Rock Festival many years ago, blew me away then too.

Can't say I've heard of them before but is it me or does the singer look like a cross between Benny Hill and Jim Morrison? :))

Benny Hill!
When I saw them live, they sounded a lot like Led Zeppelin, that was 2012.
Ya Remember? Let's Do the Time Warp Again! :pixiepop:  :drunk:
I never get tired of this song.
Kinda laid back listening tonight, Steely Dan, Don Henley, Steve Miller....but, as usual, I have Satch close out the evening 😎
Brian Johnson is 73. Angus Young is 65. Still out-rocking kids half their age.
The last half guitar solos are fantastic.

really digging Allegaeon lately. First song is heavier, second is lighter and absolutely different style and sound.

Agree! Saw them live at Sweden Rock Festival a few years ago, best band I've seen in years.
Gotta share this, I like it a lot. By my good friend Sean Tyla from the UK, who died in 2020.
I recorded and produced it and my son (only 16 YO at the time) did the video.
:) Never knew I had cousins in Finland
Dans Rammstein parody video reminds me of this one, always cracks me up!
You never heard Freebird like this before!
This is a one hit wonder from 1977.
The video proves the year. Lol. I love this song though.

Mammoth WVH, just saw them live at this festival, great band. Wolf is not as flashy on guitar as his father was, (I like that), and he is a great singer and songwriter.

Love this band! I saw them last week and was blown away. If you can listen to rock music, check these guys out. Blues based rock with heartfelt lyrics and killer jams to crush a six pack to. They just released a new album a couple weeks ago and every song is awesome.
He has quite a few good tunes I like!
Maybe belongs in the babe section? But I figure there are at least 2 great things I like about this video? This can't be the original video from 1965? That would make the dancing girl old enough to be my mother! :( But wow can that girl move! :drooling:
I should have been a rock star. *Sigh. :('
