Cam install retainer hitting seal

Supposed to have about .060 clearance between retainer and seal. I can see the retainer pushing on the seal a little bit. Retainer is about 3/8" tall and seal is about 13/16" tall. Happens on both int/exh.
340 engine
Can the valve guide be machined down lower to install a shorter seal? Or is there another way to fix this?

Dang, I'm just no help on this.  I've always had my machine shop do my heads.

How big is your cam?  Usually you don't have issues till you get over .520 at the valve... The guide can be machined & a shorter seal used... Though it looks like just the seal your using could pick you up some clearance....

Cam is 510 int, 512 exh, if I remember right. Currently not near cam card.

@Brads70 Thanks may have to do that. Guess I'm going to a machine shop Monday they seem to be fewer and farther apart around here.

With those numbers I doubt you need to machine anything, just find the right seals... Those look taller than normal...  try these...

I have no idea if what I've done makes any sense 
Ok so I took a head off and removed seals from exh/int valves from one cylinder, measured distance from top of valve guide to bottom of retainer.
Int  .650
Exh .622
Put the head back on, checked valve travel with valve train assembled.
Int  .505          Cam card says lift .512
Exh .514.         Cam card says lift .515
So doing the math and taking off .060 for clearance, room left over for a seal
Int  .085
Exh .048
Does This make any sense?
Thinking that's not enough room looks like I'll need some machining 

Should I check every cylinder? I'm thinking I should, but I don't want to, but I think I should

Looks like it's time to machine your guides....   It can be done at home if your brave & if you feel it makes economic sense....

It surprises me that they need to be cut but small blocks do take short valves/springs,,, The spring height is about .200 shorter than a big block...

Wild this is excellent! I do most things myself and this doesn't seem too bad. Thank you for taking the time to help. I was just thinking I had to call around tomorrow. Like this option a lot! Summit has them too.
