SB Valve Spring removal tool

Hi all,
I need to remove the springs on my 340 with the heads on the car. I tried one of those cheap tools with two jaw clamps and a screw, but the jaw was too small and couldn't get a bite without falling off. I tried a few hacks and even fabricated a tool, but it didn't work very well. I was able to get one spring off with a LOT of work. What are other people using? I see comp cams has a nifty tool but it is about $200.

I use DRC's tool on all my Mopar engines.. Works great and he supplies them for Jeg's, Summit etc..

That was the type of tool I was looking at. Comp. Cams seems to charge $180 for their small block one. Jegs had onee for $99, which is more reasonable. I'll check these out. Thanks

Mancini racing has an awesome one that bolts to the  rocker shaft pedestals & lever the spring down , best tool I have used .

I used the two jaw clamp style to remove and replace my valve springs about four times (killed a cam during break in). 

Before you spend a bunch of extra dough, i would like to see a pic f yours to see if it is the same style.  What valve springs are you using?

@Chryco Psycho Yeah, that is the tool I was looking at. I. bought a Hughes cam and I just found out they rent them out for $25 with a $75 dollar security deposit until it's returned. Not a bad deal. That is the route I am going.

@Cudajason I dont know if this is the actual one I got but it is pretty close. I ended up breaking it. I was trying to angle the ends up a bit more, but it is hardened steel and broke. Then ends were a little to short to get a bite and it kept. slipping off. I did read somewhere that dual springs make them harder to use.

Wow!! If that's the case, that's a pretty good deal!!

I have an old Ed Hamburger (of "Hamburger's 340 / 360 only" fame) compression tool. It's similar to the Mancini one, but it has it's own shaft with two end plates that bolt to each end of the head. It's a super sturdy piece that has no problem compressing the heaviest of valve springs. Was thinking about selling it as I believe my engine building days are probably over ...
