Hey everyone, Has anyone bought the new Sparton style horns from Roseville or anyone else for that matter? My car has the Prestolite horns, but they are in very ugly condition. I'm not sure I could make them look decent without ruining them. So, any feedback on the repops out there? Thanks

you can sand them and spray paint them.  I've done that nice with good results. but the spartan ones by roseville are pretty.

From what I recall hearing, the orientation of at least one of the horns is off since the brackets are fixed in place on the Spartons. Apparently correct for 68/69 B-bodies which is what they were most commonly used on, and of course the 70-71 E's never came with them. Not trying to dogpile on reproduction parts because something available is better than nothing but if you have working Prestolites I'd suggest trying to clean them up. Glass beading would be best. I've gone so far as to drill out the rivets, soak the pieces in Evaporust, and tap for machine screws. Reassemble with new gaskets and then grind off the screw heads to make them look like rivets & repaint. Have saved a lot of non-working horns this way. (Tip of the hat to the person who originally posted the how-to on this quite a while ago on another forum).

avatar_EV2RTSE @EV2RTSE  That sounds like an excellent idea. I was concerned about blasting them, but if I can disassemble them, I'm all for it. You mentioned replacing gaskets, do you know a source or did you make your own?

I made my own. Originally they were paper, you could use a manila folder or something similar however I went with gasket material instead. As far as blasting them goes I would recommend just stuffing a rag or something in the trumpet, masking off the terminal, and blasting them while they're still intact. Once you open them up you don't want to blast the spring steel insert or the coil which remains attached to one of the clam shells. You can also basically just clean them up intact with a bench grinder wire wheel, it'll get to nearly all of the surface areas that are visible.

I bought a set of the repop Sparton horns. Quality is ok, I wasn't going for the concours look. And yes, one of the horns is the wrong orientation, but it's relatively easy to break off the small welds on the bracket, and re weld in the orientation of your choice.
