I may have posted about the part before but my attempts to repair it have failed.  There is a bracket spot welded to the partition that attached an actuator.  As you can see in the first pic, that broke at a weld.  I tried cleaning up the metal on the broken piece and the partition and first silver soldered, then had a friend braze back into place.  Neither of them held.  I suspect the surface area of the broken part is just not sufficient.  I don't have a welder or a handy friend who could tack or otherwise weld the broken piece back in.

This piece is the only thing preventing me from completing reassembly of the A/C box.

My next repair idea was to get the piece brazed on again, then put another strip of steel the same size as the bracket attached to the partition, drill through it, the bracket, and the partition in two places (one being the broken off section area) and pop in a couple of rivets.  I don't like the idea much but it might hold well enough.

Last option and probably better would be to get the rest of bracket off the partition and make a complete new one from a strip of metal; its pretty simple.  A 'whole' bracket probably should hold reliably with a pair of rivets.

Best option: find one that isn't broken.  Anyone got one?  Original part number was  2936690

Thanks

why would you want to spend money on a part that is easily repaired let alone a difficult to not rare just difficult to find not a normal repair but very simple . clean the metal and either weld or braze it and maybe a small sheet  metal screw or two for your peace od mind

Silver solder didn't hold.  Braze didn't hold.  The part of the bracket piece that broke off that was attached to the partition is not sufficient to provide a solid attachment, apparently.  I don't have a welder (and can't use one at home anyway; HOA for the mf win).  I exhausted my list of friends and acquaintances (no welders), and even a couple of local small businesses seeing if someone could do a couple of spot welds or a few tack welds to hold things and got no takers (no I wasn't asking for a freebie).

I've been happily surprised several times asking for obscure parts here that I'd been searching for, sometimes, for many years.  Doesn't hurt to ask.

Sheet metal screws?  If it can't get welded then it'll get rivets.

Here you go. I dismanted a smashed up a/c box years ago and saved the parts for spares. I think there was a mouse nest in it which would explain the small rust hole in the side. Easy enough to fill in, otherwise should be fine. Sending you a PM.
