Well e-body enthusiasts I really thought I'd never do this but, and both my Sons thought the same thing, my 70 Challenger Slant6 in SE trim went to a new home a month ago. I wasn't doing anything with it for the past 7+ years that means not running in that time, due to age, my age not the cars (78 yrs old) and health and mobility issues. My Mrs. was right you'll never get back out there in the driveway with it  soon and It'll just rot away on you. By the time you have your hip surgery, both sides, done It'll be gone more than you think. So, I placed it in the LA Cal Marketplace and within 2 weeks I got a call from a guy who lives 20 miles away and owns a transmission repair shop doing large truck trans. He's not a real young guy 66 years old and can appreciate a Slant6 car the way it is. He also owns which I've seen in his shop, a 70 440 6 pak Cuda in-violet, a 70 Challenger 318 convertible yellow, white int and top and a 70 Challenger 440 R/T in Hemi Orange all very nice cars. He needed an original 6 cyl  Challenger. I have visitation rights to my old Dodge which I've already taken advantage of. I'm posting a couple of pics of yours truly opening the door for the last time. Oh, how much, well I asked $35K, he said "fine" I received $35K cash no negotiation. What do you think guys?  Thanks for listening,  Al

Good for you, if you're not driving it, no reason to let it sit.

Good call I think. So many of these cars fall into disrepair. Much better to get it into hands that will maintain and use it.

Glad you sold it close to home and to someone that appreciates it as it is. All the best going forward.

You have done the best thing for the car by entrusting it to a responsible custodian. And you always have your memorable moments with your car.

While I'm sad that it was time for it to go, I totally understand and I'm glad that it was the best situation all the way around, it went to a home that's going to truly appreciate it as it is and I think you got top dollar for it.

Al and I became friends years ago because our cars are near 'fraternal twins'. Some history - both of our e-bodies (Barracuda/Challenger) were born at the LA plant within the first few days of production (for me, 820 build date and a 00322 vin - Al's is just a couple hundred later), both base slant 6s. Both bought around the same time and kept 'as is', my dad just parked his around '87 while Al wracked up *Hundreds of thousands of miles* on his - it truly was loved and hopefully the new owner keeps it original, not many slanty e-bodies left.

Stick around brother, you're always part of this family

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and decision with us. We'll all reach that crossroads if we're blessed to live so long. We love and enjoy our rides, but there is more to life. Enjoy the ride!

Appreciate your story, thanks for sharing it.

Nice. Even better that it went to someone who obviously appreciates ebodies.
My memory fails me, were you the original owner Al?

Thanks for posting. I will be facing a similar dilemma this time next year and it will be tough to let go. It would be awesome to have "visitation rights", hoping I will be that lucky.  :(

Best wishes to you.
