Does anyone have experience with the OER MN1776 Headlamp adjustment set?

MN1776   68-71 A/B/E-BODY HDLMP ADJ SET
https://www.classicindustries.com/product/MN1776.html

These came up on nearly every search I did, but are different than the simple snap in plastic anchors I'm replacing. Either they are very much a PITA to install or I'm doing something wrong.

I separated the metal clip from the plastic anchor, then inserted the anchor from the back and used a long screw and nut to clip them back together. It is a PITA compared to the simple snap in type.

Maybe the attached images will help everyone understand what I'm rambling on about.

Am I doing it wrong? Is there a better replacement part available?

Thanks,

I've only ever dealt with the originals, they sit in almost flush while the way you have them seems backwards to me at a glance. But I googled the OER adjusters and they do picture them the same way you have them, then looking a little further I saw DMT selling some as well and they show them the way I believe they should install.

avatar_EV2RTSE @EV2RTSE - I've seen images of these adjusters with the screws both ways (see image), but never an image of them actually installed.

Hopefully someone will have first hand knowledge to share.

If not, I'd to go with the snap in, single piece plastic anchors if I could find the correct ones.

Thanks!

Update:

I try hard not to post until I've exhausted all search criteria for existing information. Not always successfully, apparently... This time I found an old post listed in "Similar Topics" AFTER posting.

avatar_dodj @dodj and avatar_Claudia @Claudia had discussed this topic:

https://forum.e-bodies.org/body-shop/5/headlight-adjusters/9775/

I did an eBay image search with one the images from their post and ordered these snap-in type adjusters:

So, thanks to those who left information for me to find

Claudia

I have attached some pictures that I took of the headlight mounting plate that came with my '71 Barracuda which shows how the headlight adjusters (metal clip and plastic insert) were installed.

Picture #1 is from the front side of the mounting plate, Picture #2 is from the back side of the mounting plate and Picture #3 is a close up of the front side of the mounting plate.

I was originally planning to reuse these mounting plates but ended up buying new mounting plates and adjusting hardware.  I installed my new adjusters the same way as they appear in these pictures.  Metal clip installed (not always easily) from the front side of the mounting plate.  Plastic insert also gets installed from the front side of the mounting plate.

I also added a "Modified" picture with red lines indicating where the actual mounting plate resides once the adjusting hardware is installed.  Red arrow at the top of the picture indicates the anchor point of the metal clip that resides on the back side of the mounting plate and the red arrow at the bottom of the picture indicates the anchor point of the metal clip that resides on the front side of the mounting plate . . . at least that is how I did mine . . . hope this helps!

avatar_Claudia @Claudia - thanks for the reply. Those pictures help A LOT! Clear to see my example is definitely installed incorrectly.

I have a set of the newer version ('72-'78) all plastic snap-in adjusters on order, so I'll have a decision to make once I compare the two types.

Thanks again, very much appreciated.

I used the metal clips and installation wasn't too difficult.  Easy no, but it worked out.
