What purpose does the brace circled in the picture serve? I assume it is somewhat structural. Does anything attach to it? They are missing in my car and I assume they are not reproduced. Any info appreciated...

Chryco Psycho

Nothing attached to it , just a stiffener for the unibody , easily reproduced , it hides behind the panel

I agree, even a piece of angle iron or square tubing wouldn't hurt... :alan2cents:

Thanks fellas. I would guess they would help in a side impact. Can't imagine why someone would remove these...

HP2

My '74 has a large, 3/16 thick plate bolted to the inner structure that i thought was for side impact protection. It doesn't have the small brace you are pointing to.

74 were very different & a lot heavier with more reinforcement , I stripped all the weight I could find out of mine & it was still 200 lbs heavier with a 360 than my 440 70 R/T

Those are the rear floor support brackets. AMD sells the brackets for like $60.

I looked at AMD and didn't see them listed. Have been looking for close up pictures to replicate them, but this will be much easier.
Thanks!

Go to AMD website and look under floor, then floor supports... they're there, my search is for a 70 challenger though, not sure if they change for a barracuda or for different years. Better yet, find them on Roseville and use the site discount.
