Hello All,

My 70 challenger convertible  is without rear seat belts and front belts that don't appear stock.   Looking to purchase the correct style standard or deluxe if the opportunity presents itself.

The car does not have the C15 option on the fender tag but it does have the seat belt light near the ashtray.  It has the A01 light option if that makes any difference.   I do not have the build sheet.

My assumption was standard seat belts are the correct version, but I see other posts reference the seat belt light as part of the deluxe seat belts C15 option for 1970.   Appreciate any thoughts.

I had a car in the shop not long ago with the deluxe seat beats. It had the light by the ash tray and was a 4 speed, so it had two lights. It had c15 on the tag and front deluxe belts. He was finally able to get enough seats from a guy that restores belts, Bill Edwards. It took awhile for him to finally come up with a complete set. Bill has had some health issues lately and not getting work out very fast.

I've restored two 70 Challenger with C15. Both had C15 on their original BCS but not on the fender tag. If you have the light on the dash, then in my opinion your car should have deluxe seat belts :alan2cents:

:thankyou:  that was my reading of multiple threads.  Also say it was very uncommon option, so I was going the other way, but the car has a lot of the convenience options also, why not this one.   I'm going with the deluxe   :notsure:   Appreciate the responses.

Sorry to hear about Bill, I read about his work and saw his website, a lot of rave reviews.  Hope he gets well soon.

My 70 Challenger Convertible has both A01 and C15.  I'll have to check when I get home to see if C15 is on the FT. I have this vague recollection that code was on the tag part of the production year, then they stopped putting it on there, or maybe I am thinking of something else.  My cars SBD is November '69.
I'm not sure if the fasten seat belt light was A01 or C15 option. This thread suggests it is part of the C15 option.

I was looking for the salesman order guide to see what it says, I know Barry has it on the Hamtramck Historical site, but when I try to open that site it's down.  I wonder what the problem is.  Are images of that guide (the olive green and white book) available anywhere else online?

Salesman guide available right here, duhh.  :headbang:

Says C15 included the seat belt warning light on the dash.  C15 was a $13.75 option
A01 does not mention the seat belt warning light.

I checked when I got home and C15 is on my Challengers fender tag.  But again, I seem to recall that C15 was only put on the tag part of the model year then they stopped.

So much good info on here.   I had seen this option sheet and forgotten about it.

I don't know if I should read into C15 detail that the seat belt light was standard on SE but doesn't  say the deluxe belts are standard SE, which gives the possibility you could have one without the other.  It's an RT Vert, so no SE but it has the A63 molding, standard for SE.

Car was built April 70.  Would think that's mid point.   At least that explains why it's on the ft for some but not all.

Wish I had the build sheet but I'll settle with the assumption it has the C15 option.  It's at least plausible and possibly likely with the belt light tie in.

Thanks all, much appreciated.

the "SEAT BELT" light was STANDARD on Challenger SEs - it is located in the overhead console

C15 was not STANDARD, just the light & the fender tag coding went away at HAMTRAMCK before WINTER

it looks like ~2,000 '70 Challengers had C15 "Challenger seat belt group"

US spec. JS27 ~100 built with C15
