I want to put a LED bulb in there. Can I just remove the top wood grain looking trim plate, reach in under the shifter mechanism? And if I can, does the bulb socket rotate to remove or just pull it down?  Hopefully it's not a really complicated task. Thanks again guys.

I have some photos at home that I'll post later that should help....

The bulb socket should just have metal fingers on it that clip into the housing.  Just pull it down and it should pop out.  You can probably access it by just removing the top plate.

Thanks again for the help. I was hoping it would be something like that to change the bulb. You guys are my encyclopedia! The pictures will help.

@bc3j   You can see the hole at the bottom that the light plugs in.

Removing the top trim plate is another 90 seconds. Killer access once it's out of the way.

The more you remove, the more you learn about the car...

Below are two pictures that should help:

1) Bottom side of the shifter bezel that the light socket plugs into
2) Shifter bezel light socket and harness

Bulb socket simply pulls out and pops in.
