Just wanted to see if anyone has run into this before. There appears to be a rubber bushing that actuates the lever that  releases the door latch when the exterior handle is pulled This one is worn so it cant trip the lever . I was thinking about just replacing it with a section of fuel hose. Thank you in advance I will get a couple pics

I'm searching for the mysterious adjustment screw

The adjustment screw is right beside your pen, loosen it and adjust it so the lever hits your rubber part earlier.

I mixed up 1 laundry soap pod and about 1/4 cup dish soap in a gallon of hot water let soak over night came out very clean then I put it in evapo rust for a few hours which is a product I really like .I try to do most of my de greasing without solvents If I can .Cant always do that though I've gotten away from acid for de rusting like in this case acid would have removed all the galvanize and beneficial plating. Evapo rust doesn't harm plating.

I am going to post a pic of this latch for the benefit of a future searcher because it provides a clear picture of the lock rod attachment points most of the pictures I found were installed in the car and not super clear I believe green is handle to latch red is key cylinder rod black is inner door lock toggle and remaining hole takes a metal clip and goes to inner door handle

I love reference pictures. Here's my contribution, the metal clip that Mopar5 referred to.
