About 15 or 20 years ago I had the pleasure to visit Desert Valley Auto Parts just outside of Phoenix, AZ.  It was summer and 117 deg F in that yard that day.  Needless to say, I was the only soul out there (besides the snakes).  I've never, ever seen interior components weather quite as freakish as I saw in that yard.  Plastic from steering wheels literally had dripped off the steel inner band and cooled into a color-keyed stalagtite onto the driver seat.

My latest project car has an instrument panel pad right on parts with the dashes I saw in the desert.  In a strange and twisted way it's kind of a work of art modified by the ravage of nature.  On the other hand, I'm looking forward to a new bayou green version of the 70 pad.  Here's a few pics.  Anyone else have any gruesome interior components they'd like to share?

Winner winner chicken dinner.  That has to be the most sun damage I've seen on an E-Body!

What did the rest of the Challenger look like?

Wow thats gotta be the worst one I've seen. I thought mine was bad when I removed the vinyl upholstery the previous owner had installed over the dash pad. The door panels were covered with it too. They were burnt orange under the black vinyl.

Good question, I'd be curious too!  This car is rough to say the least.  I'll be negotiating a volume discount with AMD to be sure.  It is largely intact and will be able to restore a fair amount of the original components but bony get me wrong, many of the components aside from the sheetmetal are too far gone.  I feel the car is worthy.  Many people walked away from thus car before I bought it.  Six pack car with 4-speed and 4.10 Dana.  All the drivetrain is numbers correct to the car and am even lucky enough to have the fender tag and buildsheet.  As I get deeper into the resurrection of this stripe-delete green on green meanie I'll try to keep a progress log here on e-bodies.org :takepicture:

I'm new to forums but really glad to know Cody and super excited to get to know all of you fine fellows.  Cody speaks high praise of each one of you. :slapme5:

A nice orbital sander with 400 grit and that will buff out nice.
