Headliner removal help

Any advice would be welcome.  I remember someone saying to number the bows.  Do I start in the rear or does it matter.  My headliner looks awesome, hoping to reuse it.

Each bow is in one of three holes on each side. Be sure to document which hole they came out of. Good luck. Mike

Remove the interior (rear seats), remove the rear panels, remove all the trim around the inside, remove the visors, remove the dome light, remove the seat belts, remove the coat hooks, and anything else in the way.  I find it easier to work on headliners without the glass in.  If it was me, I would not reuse a headliner.  They are pretty cheap and I like to put a bit of glue in a few spots so it holds really well.  And without the extra material to pull on it would be hard to get it reinstalled right.

Are you referring to the fact that trying to reuse a headliner is not a good idea?  Thanks

One of the tricks to installing a headliner is the material will shrink slightly with heat... Be it a heat gun, a hair dryer or the sun.... A used headliner is already shrunk so what you get is what you get... They are pretty cheap replace it....

I'm just saying good luck.....reinstalling a used headliner will be a task that is going to require some luck

Thanks guys. I'll plan on buying a new one.  As for the order of the Bows....should I keep track of them?

I know mr. Moparts will be at the Spring Fling so maybe they will have a headliner I can buy there?  Not sure how it's shipped but I could see that being expensive?

The bows should have paint markings, pay attention to the order.... The headliner is cloth so is is folded & put in a box... Shipping isn't an issue...... Assuming your not working on an SE.. If you are disregard everything in this thread.....

Just leave the bows in the old headliner until it's time to have the new one installed

I'm planning on having my car media blasted so is it okay to leave the bows in?  Thanks

Leave the bows in the old headliner so you will no what order they go back into the car and make note of which holes they came out of..........pictures, pictures, pictures.

You can take a photo of which hole they are in. I wouldn't worry about mixing them up, it's pretty obvious when you go to put them back in if they fit or not.
