Putting things back together, and the body service manual does a poor job showing smaller details. Anyone know where the spring goes?

That one goes between the window crank and the rear plastic interior panel. First you put the round decorative black plastic disc on the crank handle.
Seriously! I had those in the bag for the window hardware all this time. I assumed they went there when sorting through the parts.
Thanks

I always thought that spring went behind the rear plastic panel to push it out to make contact with the black plastic washer so there would not be a gap showing the window crank shaft.

Now that you mentioned that I think you're right. I'm wrong again. Parts Book lists it for Barracuda too. Picture is huge.

The black spring shown in the first picture is in the exact correct location. You put a washer on the shoulder bolt, then the spring, then it goes through the plastic block and into the quarter window frame.

All you guys talking about window cranks and interior panels are talking about the wrong spring...it's the same shape but much larger :alan2cents:
I've taught you everything you know....but I haven't taught you everything I know....

My bad. Alan is correct. Here is a photo of the spring installed on a spare mechanism I have on the wall.

I'm not deleting mine. I want people to know I still make mistakes at 71 years old.

That is where i had it originally, but I couldn't understand why it would be there, as the bolt and washer clamped it down tight against the plastic block.

Actually, the spring is not compressed tight. There's a gap by using the shoulder bolt that allows some play and the spring to tension the slider. Moving the window in relation to the track shows the spring keeps tension on the slider. Note in photo I have a screwdriver blade sitting in the gap.

:dunno:   I'm pretty sure mine tightens right down and completely flattens the spring..      :dunno:

The window edge seal goes over the top corner of the glass to provide a rubber to rubber seal with the top rail seal. The metal trim top edge is sharp and could cut the top rail seal. Also the metal trim is riveted to the window base plate. See photos.
