Rallye Gauges- Turn Signal Lense Replacement

I need to replace one of my lenses.
It appears that the factory process was to "melt" the perimeter in place.
So, it looks like I would need to remove the area where the previous lens was "melted" in place. Is that correct?
Has anybody done this process? if I don't remove some of the old outside perimeter, the lens will not sit down on the correct surface.

I'm looking to see if anyone has replaced any of these lenses.

I used an adhesive backed foam washer from an RC car that I opened up the ID with a leather punch. The foam seals up nicely against the bezel and holds the lens against the light tube. A little different than the factory, but worked well.
