the learning continues please...

-Any differences in standard clusters 1970-74?

-Any difference cuda to challenger?  curious if i'm looking on ebay.

-Was the right most gauge slot always left blank ?  seems a waste.

Regarding steering column/wheel:

- 70 to early 71 are same

- late 71 to 74 are same?

I have a three hole type steering wheel with a May buildsheet.

I will need to eventually replace column since I plan on converting car
from auto on the tree to 833.

Brads70

Yes standard Challenger cluster was unique to 70 , font and labels were different as well as the ribbed trim panels.
Left blank slot  was for optional clock. There are various aftermarket gauges made to fill that position. Tach etc....
Columns are different again lots of 70 only parts.
Same with steering wheels.
What year/model are you building?
Are you after a "numbers matching" type restoration?

This steering wheel was ONLY 1972-1974 Dodge Challenger, Plymouth Barracuda and Cuda.
You will not find it factory installed in any 1970 or 1971 E Body. :bigthumb:

I have yet to see a 1970 only steering column in an early build 1971 car, no matter how early they were built. :alan2cents:
I've taught you everything you know....but I haven't taught you everything I know....

What is the identifier from 70 to 71-74 column?  I will have to put mine side by side and see what I see.

Alan, this is the steering column that I just pulled out of my 71 barracuda vert.. w/3 hole steering wheel  :dunno:  no three hole in 71 ?

I'm not going for numbers/date matching but I don't want to create a Frankenstein using parts that didn't ever belong to that model year.

I am thinking of using parts from 73 BS 4spd for the 71 vert  ::)    steering column, 3:91 posi and springs, driveshaft, 833, k-frame w/disk brakes, pedal assembly, maybe standard gauges too if in better condition.

Thanks,
