Thought I'd ask and see if I get any hits.  I'm in need of a hood for my 71 Cuda.  My old one is in pretty bad shape and not worth trying to fix.  I thought about going to a shaker setup but I think I want to stick with the original style that came with the car.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't the 71-74 Cuda hoods the same?  Or are there slight differences?

Anyways, looking for a better hood than what I have now.  I'm in the Northern California area.  Please let me know what you may have or if you know of someone that may have one.  Any leads are appreciated.

Also, what might someone expect to pay for a decent condition hood?

Thanks!

Also, wanted to add that the hood should have the holes cut out for the hood hold downs pins.  Thanks.

Fish Tale

Can anyone at least give some input on what someone may expect to pay for a decent condition used hood?

I would think $350-450 depending on condition.

I sold my Raisin brand hood a few years back at $400 plus shipping.

Was a member here in S. CA. and he used Uship.com to get it delivered.
Per my recommendation.
Went well.

I've seen them from 250-500.

I'd like to hear if there is a difference 71-74.   I think 71 have the plymouth badge holes near header panel ???

If you search FB marketplace there are plenty out there... I can punch in details and come up with hand-full within two hours of my area @ 500 or less.

Thanks Dustin for the heads up.  Can anyone tell what year it is based on the pictures?

looks like a '70 - w/o crush zones

There are some differences over the years with the hoods.

'70 is a unique year.  No crush zones on the underbracing, no provisions for the 'Plymouth' badge in front of the driver's side hood pin, and the hood scoop inserts (the ridged black part) do not have visible mounting screws.  They are held in with speed nuts from the back.

Also, '70 uses a smaller diameter mounting bolt to the hinges.

'71 introduced the crush zones on the bracing, the Plymouth badge, and the ridged black hood scoop inserts are held in place from the front with 2 countersunk Philips screws

'72-up would not have provisions for hood pins, but in general, they appear to be the same as a '71 hood.

At some point in '71-'72 the underhood bracing changed.  The earlier versions have a series of rectangles punched out of the bracing between the edge of the hood and the large front-back rib in the bracing.  Later versions don't have the punchouts.

Unlike '71-4 B-body hoods, AFAIK there are no differences in the defroster vent area by year, so you could certainly take a clean '74 hood, punch it for hood pins, and look 99% correct on a '71

Hey guys, still looking for an original 71 hood.  Any leads appreciated.

FYI - I'm in California, shipping could be expensive if it's coming from the east coast areas.
