I was looking through Craigslist and there is a 70 cuda 440 auto with air car listed in Dallas. Looks like a pretty good restoration but I did not scrutinize it closely. The funny thing about it was the fendertag was screwed down crooked and not in the two normal holes. The Cuda I just bought has the tag screwed down the same way, crooked. Both are the same 440 auto with air and both built in LA plant cars. Anyone every seen that? Mine has never been touched and I bet they just screwed their's down like they found it.

A picture would sure help.  Or a link to the car for sale.

I've not seen one screwed down outside of the typical holes that are already placed on the inner fender.

Mine looks just like that and the SPD is 331. The only difference is mine has the thin metal strip attached to the other screw and it's completely under the tag just barely sticking out at the bottom. I'll try and get a picture to show the placement. I did not think much about it until I saw this blue one and it was the same way.

Wow.  That's different.   I've only seen a few and assumed they were not factory.

Is there a pattern here?  Is this only done to LA cars?  Or some of them?

The little metal tag is the inspection strip that gets cut off as the car goes down the assembly line.

Would like to see more..

Sorry for the long delay. Here's the pictures of the tag. I'm sure it has never been disturbed. It's only off about 1/4". It has the same inspection  tag underneath fender tag.

That certainly looks legit. A lot of the people that screwed these cars together on the line didn't care for accuracy.
